REDEFINING TRANSITIONS /

On Thursday 12 of March 2015, Gallery@Sarri12 presents the new solo show of Dimitris Liossis, “Redefining Transitions”. Also known from the world of snowboard and surf and urban culture, the artist sets up a real - size skateboard ramp inside the gallery space. A wooden structure entirely handmade and painted with markers , spray and stencils. Inspired by the animal kingdom and the decoration of the dome of the Roman church of Sant’Ignazio, Liossis replaces the various figures with anthropomorphic creatures animal heads on the internal surface of the ramp. The exhibition also includes new work of the artist, paintings on canvas and wood with anthropomorphic complexes and three oversized mixed media canvases that he created in 1993 , 2002 and 2014 respectively.
Dimitris Liossis was born in 1970. He studied Fine Art & Design in The City & Guilds of London and Middlesex University, with Professor Jim Mooney from the Royal College. He has presented his work in many exhibitions in Greece and abroad with his most recent solo show , “Animal Exhibition”, at ISIDORA gallery in 2014.
